SUWADA Flat Nail Nipper

The SUWADA Flat has a symmetrical cutting head set perpendicular to the handle. Its blades have a very gentle curve, making the cutting direction easy to read from either side of the tool for routine fingernail and toenail trimming.

The Flat model received a 2023 GOOD DESIGN BEST100 award.

Cutting performance

As with other SUWADA nail nippers, the two blades are hand-fitted during final assembly (aiba) so the cutting edges meet cleanly. This is designed to leave a clean nail edge, so routine filing after cutting is generally unnecessary.

Positioning the Flat

The symmetrical head reduces reliance on one fixed blade direction when positioning the nipper. The gentle curve can be used to shape fingernails while also allowing a relatively straight approach across toenails.
